Frequently Asked Questions

A Bit More About What to Expect In Therapy

Need a bit more info about what to expect in therapy before getting started?

I've got you covered.  Below I share answers to frequently asked questions about the behind-the-scenes logistics of my practice to help you decide if I'm the best therapist for you. If you have a question that isn't answered below, feel free to reach out for a virtual consultation. I'll be happy to provide any additional information you need to feel confident about your decision.

Yes!

Sessions are currently offered weekday afternoons.

Therapy is $200 per 45-minute session.

If you’d like to use your insurance to help cover the costs of therapy, you may qualify for up to 80% reimbursement for out-of-network sessions. You pay in full after each session, and I work with Mentaya to file insurance claims on your behalf and help you get money back. Click here to calculate your out-of-network mental health benefits.

If you are uninsured or underinsured, you may qualify for my reduced rate ($70/session) through Open Path Psychotherapy Collective. Click here to check my current availability for this reduced rate.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of therapy over time.

My secure client portal accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, FSA cards, and HSA cards.

Therapy is offered on a weekly basis.  I work this way for several reasons:

  • AVAILABILITY: When I take you on as a new client, you can rest assured that I am available and prepared to prioritize your care (that therapy spot is protected in my calendar just for you).
  • PREDICTABILITY: By having a predictable day and time for therapy every week, it becomes easier to prioritize and plan around scheduled sessions.
  • BETTER RESULTS: Less frequent therapy (especially within the first 3 months) is shown to have less favorable outcomes.
  • FASTER RESULTS: Weekly therapy helps you to reach your goals faster and more efficiently.
  • COST-EFFECTIVENESS: With less “life” happening between sessions, less time is needed to review updates at the beginning of each session (saved time = overall lower cost of treatment).

When we start working together, we'll agree on a day and time for your weekly sessions.

In your first session, we'll have a conversation about your goal(s) for therapy.  We'll get really specific about how we'll measure the change you're hoping for.  This will help us stay focused and accountable during our work together.  We'll check in regularly to make sure you're making progress and make any adjustments as needed.

While the exact timeline differs for everyone, my intention as your therapist is to work myself out of a job (therapy won’t last forever). Once you've met your therapy goal(s), we’ll discuss your readiness to graduate from treatment.  If you know that you'd like to work within a specific timeframe, we can tailor your treatment plan accordingly.
