Perinatal Therapist in Salinas, CA

About Kayti

AS SEEN IN

Stressed out new parent?  You're in the right place.  I'm Kayti (she/her), a multiethnic therapist specializing in perinatal mental health.  I'm here to help you develop values-based strategies to navigate the transition to parenthood with clarity, confidence, and creativity.

I’m passionate about this work partly because of my own experience during that first season of parenthood — one that was exciting and scary and vulnerable and intense and transformative.  Meeting with a perinatal therapist gave me the support I needed to be well and show up for myself, for my family, and for things that mattered most to me. My hope is to help you do the same.

I trust that you are the expert of your life and will know what's best for your family. I don’t pretend to have all of the answers. Instead, my intention is to offer a safe space for you to process, imagine, and create your own way.

what we'll focus on in our work together

The Heart of My Approach

Mindfulness involves noticing, naming, and holding space for your honest experience in the present moment. By nurturing a healthy relationship with your strong emotions, physical sensations, and thoughts, you can spend less time fighting against them and spend more time focused on what truly matters to you. Mindfulness doesn’t have to mean sitting quietly and meditating. If you’re into that, AWESOME. If not, ALSO AWESOME. I’ll help you figure out strategies that work for you.

Showing Up to the Present Moment

Mindfulness

Imagine a moment where we could quiet all of the expectations, the “shoulds,” and the well-meaning (and often conflicting) parenting advice. What would your perfect day look like? How would you spend your time? What would you prioritize? What might you let go of? What choices would you make for yourself and your family? What matters most to you right now, and what doesn’t matter at all? These are some of the questions we’ll consider as we define your personal values, giving you a strong foundation to make important life decisions with clarity and confidence.

Exploring What Matters Most to You

values

Progress isn’t only based on what we talk about in therapy — it’s based on the changes you make in your actual life. In each session, we’ll discuss practical strategies to translate your new insights into concrete actions that help you design a life you love. The next time we meet, we’ll talk about what worked, what didn’t, and what you might want to try next. While I’ll have ideas and suggestions, you’ll get to decide each “next step” along the way.

Taking Gentle Steps Forward

ACTION

what matters most to me as your therapist

My Values

As your therapist, I'll bring all the good stuff I've learned through my clinical practice and training. I'll invite you to bring all the good stuff you've learned from your own lived experience.  We'll work together to set goals you're excited about and create a game plan to reach them.

COLLABORATION

01.

With so much in new parenthood that's OUT of your control (hello abysmal parental leave policies, childcare costs that compete with college tuition, PANDEMIC), I'll help you take inventory of your strengths, build out your resources, and take advantage of all that's WITHIN your control.

Empowerment

02.

Taking really good care of others starts with taking really good care of yourself. We’ll develop ongoing practices that protect and sustain your energy for what matters most to you.  (I know and 100% agree — this shouldn't be radical.)

Radical Self-Care

03.

I understand and respect that your cultural background, skin color, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical ability, and spiritual context shape your experience as a new parent (and your experience of me).  I strive to be sensitive to the social identities we each bring to our work together.

Cultural Humility

04.

Therapy doesn't have to be scary or overly-serious.  Of course, we'll be serious when we need to be — but we'll also make space to kick our feet up, laugh a little, and send giant high-fives through the universe to celebrate the amazingness that happens when you apply this therapy-goodness to your life.

Playfulness
